Talking about antibiotics, it is hard to explain their alternatives action as they affect different bacteria and have own characteristics. Very often, a medication helps only in one disease, but helps greatly and can’t be ignored.

Considering universal medications, Amoxil, probably, is one of the most successful antibiotics. It has a number of alternatives, but if they are comparable?

Chloramphenicol is an old antibiotic. It helps well in respiratory infections, skin and eye diseases, but adverse reactions are worse. Besides, its action is not wide.

Erythromycin is characterized by wide action, practically just like Amoxil, but more often may cause allergic reactions and complications.

Tetracycline is characterized by wide action as well. Its main difference from Amoxil is type of action: it doesn’t destroy bacteria only blocking their reproduction. In some cases this tetracycline property is required, but others it is not good.

Certainly, this is not all antibiotics which are able to substitute Amoxil, only the widespread ones are listed. Anyway by drug action and safety Amoxil is hard to be surpassed.
